Connect With Your Inner Child

Oooooh, that’s how the fancy people say it, isn’t it? But how about we just say – “Go out and play!” because it’s just that easy.

Okay, so maybe some of us have forgotten how to play or maybe we’ve been trained that spirituality is all seriousness and composure and discipline. Or maybe we aren’t comfortable with ourselves. No matter your situation, learning to be a little silly can do a lot for your spiritual practice.

Most of the divine entities out there – angels, fairies, elementals, buddhas, gods, and goddesses – are said to have one or more child-like traits. Indulgence in sweets. Playing practical jokes. Indulgence in Earthly pleasures. All sorts of different things! And the thing that teaches us is: you can’t be serious all the time!

So, some of the things that I do to play are:

  • CATS! Need I say more?
  • Belly dance
  • Joking with my fiance
  • Joking with my housemate
  • Baking cookies at any time of day
  • Crafting things
  • Expressing my artistic nature
  • Buying things I think are pretty
  • Playing with my hair
  • Wearing costume pieces all year round (cat ears, anyone?)

So what are some fun things that you can add to your day to take the edge off and let your inner child out?

You’ll find the more that you’re willing to engage in play, the easier it is to learn your lessons, you’ll lessen your stress and anxiety, and you’ll smile more! Give it a shot!
