As a professional psychic, I’ve been thinking about this one a lot lately. How accurate can you reasonably expect a psychic to be? And how accurate do you really want them to be?
Personally, I think it would be unfair to expect anyone to be 100% perfect at their chosen profession/skillset/whatever. We are all human and human make mistakes. That’s just kind of how things are. Once in awhile, a skilled and beautifully trained ballerina will mess up her pirouette, but has the advantage of being able to do this in ‘practice’. For me, I don’t get much in the way of ‘practice’ – I only have doing. Skilled and prized surgeons have insurance just for this very reason – no matter how good you are, at some point, you’re going to mess something up.
So, from my point of view – if you get a reading and the psychic was wrong, that’s okay – they’re human and it’s bound to happen. That’s what’s so fabulous about testimonials and ratings and the like – they give you a gauge for how often that psychic is right or wrong – if they’re wrong too often to be reliable, then you should hopefully see that.
I also asked how accurate do you want a psychic to be. I ask this question because often, in my readings, I will hope to help change future events by providing advice to my clients – rendering my reading inaccurate if I do it right! Especially when I see something unfortunate and unnecessary happening in the future, I will look to see what can be done to avoid that incident. Unfortunately, that incident may be essential in the causation of all the following foreseeable elements – and if I can help someone dodge something that will be bad and unnecessary for their growth, I’m going to do it and know that the rest of my reading after that will be somewhat inaccurate as a result and I do try to mention this when it happens. To me, this is never a bad reading – this would be an awesome reading because it has given someone additional information to take more control of their life and spiritual growth.
So, then, what accuracy rate is ‘acceptable’ for a psychic? Just throwing numbers out, I’m impressed at 75% – that’s more than the law of averages allows. For a professional and seasoned psychic, I would expect their accuracy to be at least 90% – 95%. But I really feel that 100% is asking a bit much from any fellow human being. Even the more famous psychics of our time, such as Sylvia Browne and John Edward, can’t claim a 100% accurate track record.
That’s what I think. And I have a lot of other thoughts, too! But I’m really curious to hear what other people have to say about this – what’s reasonable and what isn’t? What are you expectations and experiences? What do you think/feel/guess/theorize?
