I received this book to review back at the beginning of the year and, yes, it has taken me most of the year to get through it. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad book, though – to the contrary, it means that there’s a lot of stuff in here that is really important!
For me, it meant that there were a lot of foundational topics that I had to revisit, such as what is energy and how does it work. I admit, I was stuck for a long time on the arrangement of energy bodies and actually trying to SEE the aura. I was able to achieve the first step – seeing a white outline around my subject, but I was never able to get anything clearer. I was really disappointed in this because I really did want to see my first auras using this book. I read and re-read the section on Identifying the Colors in the Aura where Kala describes how she learned and stretched her own aura-seeing ability trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
When I realized that what I was doing wrong was trying to force my experience into a preconceived notion, I was able to let that go and, through reading the rest of Kala’s book, discover how I interface with other people’s auras.
A section I especially liked was in Identifying the Colors in the Aura after Kala relates her experiences. She goes on to describe what the different colors describe about a person and also what kinds of activities you can engage in to change the color of your own Aura. For example, if I feel I need more Turquoise in my aura because I want to connect to my inner healer, then there are listed suggested foods (none in this case), home decor (natural elements, such as running water), clothing (anything turquoise), gemstones (turquoise, naturally), flowers (orchids), music (instrumentals), activities (reading and traveling) that I can engage in, as well as a brand new mantra I can chant or repeat to myself.
Not only does Kala teach us about the Aura, how it develops, and what the different colors and other effects mean, but she also teaches us how to use it as a tool. The information is simply stated and easy to follow along and unless you have personal issues to work through (such as I did) this book will be an excellent one to add to your library.
