Fox medicine is full of cunning and ingenuity. The fox is a very unique animal, combining canine and feline traits, as well as masculine and feminine traits, in the same animal. It’s adaptability is one if its strongest traits and in many cultures, fox is considered a shapechanger, often taking the shape of beautiful women.

This flexibility also contributes to fox’s reputation for camouflage and invisibility as well. Fox are ambush hunters, relying strongly on their ability to remain unseen in order to catch their prey. Their coats do not change season to season, emphasizing how adaptable their coats are to all seasons. If fox has come into your life, you may want to take a moment to recognize how and when you’re using your ability for camouflage. Fox may be telling you that you need to step out of the spotlight, quiet your energy, and go unnoticed for awhile. On the other hand, on occasion fox may want you to realize you’re abusing your ability and are slowly disappearing from your own life. Foxes energy should not be misused for it is a powerful energy.

Fox are most active at dawn, dusk, and at night. This gives fox a strong reputation for being associated with magic and magical arts, as well as the fairy world. Specifically, fox is associated with women’s magic, speaking of the need to connect with the feminine energies of imagination, creation, and nurturing. It is not uncommon in Native American mythology to hear tales of hunters who come home only to discover their beautiful wives are, indeed, foxes in disguise!

If you need to connect with your feminine energy and the night, fox would be a good energy to draw into your life. Fox can also help you master the arts of invisibility, shapechanging, and camouflage.
