Affirmations are positive statements that you use to change the energy vibration of your life. You can use these affirmations to bring about change in yourself or your circumstances. The concept is based on the idea that thoughts have energy and that like energy attract like, so by generating a certain energy with your thoughts, matching energies will be drawn into your life affecting the desired changes. Affirmations can be simple or they can be more complex.
To create an affirmation, make a statement in the present tense. For example, “I am strong.” You want to remember to leave our any unnecessary details as that allows for more variety and creativity in the way that your affirmation can be fulfilled. Details can sometimes be limiting. On the other hand, use as much detail as necessary to make your affirmation clear and easily understandable. “I have money” is a nice and simple affirmation, but “I have enough money to cover my expenses” adds an important detail to the affirmation. You could take it one step further and use “I will have $850 by September 30th to pay all my expenses.”
Using your affirmation can be the tricky part because it requires a certain amount of not doubting on your own part. Contrary thoughts draw in their like energy as well, so attracting strength while also attracting weakness tends to be a futile effort. One way to do this is to simply repeat the affirmation as many times as it takes for that little doubting voice to hush up. It may take many iterations for this to happen, but every time you do it, it will happen sooner and easier and the repetitions will give further strength to your affirmation as well. Write down your affirmation and put it somewhere where you will see it often and make a point of looking at it and repeating it as many times as you need to throughout the day. The more you repeat the affirmation, the stronger and more effective it becomes. I prefer to keep my affirmations with me and handy at all times. The moments I start to think contrary to my affirmation, I get it out and read it over and over again until the contrary thought passes and I’m again in a more positive state of mind. You really want to bring yourself to place of belief with your affirmation so you can say it with confidence and surety. It may take a lot of practice, but you’ll get there if you keep at it.
